Uniting for the Voice in prayer
Join 14 days of prayer ahead of the referendum on 14 October and gather together in prayer for a Referendum Eve Vigil the day before we vote
September 20, 2023
As referendum day approaches, the Assembly is organising 14 Days of Prayer reflecting on the significance and possibility that a national vote on a Voice to Parliament will bring.
This will be an opportunity to hold one another in prayer over this time, especially our First Nation siblings, and to be reminded that Christ walks with us in our ache for justice, now and in the days ahead.
These prayers will come from across the country, reflecting the diversity of the Uniting Church. We will hear from First Peoples, key leaders, young people, and CALD leaders praying in language.
Complete the sign up form below to receive these daily prayers to your email or stay tuned to the Uniting Church Facebook page for their upload. They will start 29 September and finish 13 October with a national Referendum Eve Vigil.
The Vigil will be the culmination of these prayers. It will bring together Uniting Church members from across the country to centre ourselves in faith and unity before referendum day.
From Darwin to Melbourne, and many places in between, congregations will open their sanctuaries for the local community to gather and pray. Each location will also be connected to a single Zoom webinar, taking turns to lead prayer and worship.
If you would like to join this Zoom, click the button below to register to receive the link. Details for the physical locations are available here.
